I'm Fine

|  PC  |  Educational |  Point & Click

Scope

Engine: Unity
Team Size: 1
Duration: 4 Days

Personal Contribution

Solo project, everything created by myself only.

I'm not doing well.

Sometimes, the hardest thing for all of us is to reach out. Keep it in mind that there will always be someone willing to listen.

Take care of yourself, and if you can, others.

Production Pipeline

Rapid Development

This project is a rapid prototype, meaning I have up to 7 days to finish a playable prototype with a title page, 1-3 playable levels to show mechanics, and implanted assets (art and audio.)

Motivation

Unlike other small project, I decided to make it a full gameplay because of the event happened in my life during my development. It made me realize that how hard it is for people to reach out for help, and also how hard it is for others to find a way helping people. I do know one thing, that is a lot of times, merely standing by them, be patience, and listen is enough.

Mechanics & Narrative Design

I have a point to make through this game, but still, it needs to be a short and educational gameplay. I took inspiration from "Cube Escape" by Rusty Lake on how the story progress within only one simple scene, and built my narrative upon this mechanic.

Like in real life, most people will react to this situation in a way which usually makes it worse. It is not because they try to hut others, most of the time, they just simply cannot understand.

Design Note

Sketched out the main scene, and designed the characters. I put hints about these 6 creature are best friends, to contrast the fact that most of them did not realize that the player character needs help.

Build

I made every character a Button in Unity, so they can be easily clicked and trigger dialogue. Since it is a small project, I used coroutine for frame-by-frame animation, and made the ending into video using DaVinci Resolve.
